Trump announced he’s getting ready to hold an enormous hyper-nationalist "Salute to America" parade in D.C. on July 4th.

It’s not hard to imagine the kind of pompous warmongering spectacle he’s got in mind: last year our grassroots outcry forced Trump to back down from a giant military march where troops, guns, and originally even tanks would have flooded the streets of D.C.

It’s the kind of self-serving hyper-nationalist event you’d expect in an authoritarian dictatorship — but Trump can’t change the fact that we still live in a democracy, and he can’t hold his ego-driven event without taxpayer dollars to pay for it.
