A U.S. citizen was killed by Israeli settlers in the West Bank.
Sayfollah "Saif" Musallet, a 20-year-old from Florida, was visiting family when violent settlers beat him and prevented an ambulance from reaching him. He is now the fifth American to be killed in the West Bank since October 2023.
Saif’s death is part of a devastating and extremely concerning pattern of violence and impunity. Calls for the Israeli government to investigate are growing, but the simple truth is that the same Israeli government that has been sanctioned for inciting violence against Palestinians in the West Bank cannot be trusted to investigate itself in yet another tragedy.
At a minimum, the U.S. government owes it to Musallet’s family and Americans everywhere to seek accountability for his killing and help end the alarming rise in settler violence in the West Bank. A key step is a U.S.-led investigation. Pressure from Congress can help secure one — but that will only come if we, the people, speak up to demand justice.
