To Members of the U.S. Congress:
For decades, U.S. policymakers have blocked any criticism of Israel in international fora, including blocking calls at the UN for a ceasefire of the current conflict. They have attempted to criminalize support for even peaceful forms of resistance, and, critically, have given Israel $3.8 BILLION annually in military assistance without condition.
U.S. taxpayers’ dollars should never be used to fund human rights abuses, and Israel isn’t an exception to that rule.
I strongly urge you to co-sponsor and support Rep. Betty McCollum's bill, which would bar U.S. military funds from being used by Israel to support Israel’s military detention, interrogations, abuse, or ill-treatment of Palestinian children in violation of international humanitarian law; support Israel’s seizure, appropriation, or destruction of Palestinian property and forcible transfer of civilians in the occupied West Bank in violation of international humanitarian law; and deploy or support the deployment of personnel, training services, lethal materials, equipment, facilities, logistics, transportation, or any other activity to territory in the occupied West Bank to facilitate further unilateral annexation by the Israeli government in violation of international humanitarian law.
