Win Without War

Tell the Senate to Repeal the 2002 AUMF!

Twenty years ago, Congress authorized the invasion of Iraq, giving its green light to a military intervention that has since destroyed the lives of millions of people. We knew back then that this war was a mistake — in fact, Win Without War grew out of the movement to stop it — and now, we have a unique chance to make things right by getting the U.S. Senate to repeal its authorization of use of military force (AUMF) once and for all.

This isn't the first time Congress has tried repealing the 2002 AUMF, but today, they’re closer than ever. Just weeks ago, the House included Rep. Barbara Lee's amendment to repeal the 2002 AUMF in the House version of the NDAA — a must pass defense bill that is all but certain to go to the president’s desk.

To members of the 117th Senate:

We urge you to repeal the 2002 Authorization for the Use of Military Force Against Iraq as part of the FY2023 National Defense Authorization Act. It is time for Congress to reclaim their constitutional war powers, and repeal this outdated and unrestrained presidential military authority.
