It’s time to push Congress to #KeepOurPromise. After the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan in the summer of 2021, we welcomed tens of thousands of refugees into the country. Today, as many as 78,000 Afghan refugees are perilously close to losing their legal right to remain in the United States. 

Afghans who evacuated to the U.S. in late 2021 and 2022 are currently only allowed to stay in the country for up to two years — and the clock is ticking. To address a looming humanitarian disaster of our own making, members of Congress introduced the Afghan Adjustment Act earlier this year. This bipartisan, bicameral legislation would create a pathway to permanent status for tens of thousands of Afghans currently living in the United States. 

Yep, there is a bipartisan push here. The problem? It’s December, and there are dozens of bills that Congress is trying to prioritize before the year ends. That’s why a cross-movement coalition is making a huge, urgent push to move this bill to the top of the pile. 

The way we do it is by generating massive energy and noise, and if enough of us speak out now, we have a real opportunity to see this bill passed. Can you add your voice?
