Your Rep. voted wrong on the NDAA!

Congress just handed Trump a blank check for war. And your Representative is one of the people responsible.

Yesterday, the Senate passed the FY2020 National Defense Authorization Act, following the House passing it through last week — authorizing $738 billion for the Pentagon, weapons, and war-making. And now it’s headed to Trump’s desk, where he’s more than happy to sign off on it.

And the next step is making sure our members of Congress know we’ve been watching them during the entire NDAA process, and we won’t let up until they stand on the right side on history.

Will you write to your Representative today that you are disappointed they voted wrong on the NDAA?

Dear Representative,

I am your constituent, writing because I am extremely disappointed in your vote last week to pass the FY2020 National Defense Authorization Act, which authorized $738 billion for the Pentagon, weapons, and war-making. The House-version of the bill included critical provisions to put a check on the executive branch’s powers, including language to prevent an unauthorized war with Iran, end U.S. complicity in the Saudi/Emirati-led intervention in Yemen, and stop the deployment of an entirely new, dangerous nuclear weapon, among other things. As you know, the final negotiated bill being sent to President Trump were stripped of these constraints.

Your vote on the final FY2020 NDAA accepted the status quo and missed a critical opportunity to reject endless war.

I believe you want to do better than that. So I’m giving you another chance. Start again today. From now on, do everything else you can to end endless war, from calling for reductions to the Pentagon budget to reasserting Congress’s power to decide when, where, and whether U.S. military force is used.

I’m counting on you to help upend U.S. militarism and move us toward a better, more peaceful future. Please don’t let me down again.
