Win Without War

You Decide: Will Pres. Biden close or re-open Guantanamo's dark chapter?

Have you heard? President Biden may not only keep Guantanamo Bay Detention Center open — he could repurpose it as a processing center for Haitian migrants.

Guantanamo, well known for its horrific detention practices and human rights abuses, has been a symbol of injustice on the global stage for too long. That’s why Senator Dick Durbin and 17 Senate allies recently renewed the push to close it. And they didn’t mince words: “In addition to the $540 million in wasted taxpayer dollars each year, the prison comes at the price of justice for the victims of 9/11 and their families.”

The idea that a facility synonymous with torture could be used to contain people fleeing incredible violence and political instability in Haiti is abhorrent and an utter affront to our values.

That’s where we come in. We already know President Biden is open to closing the detention center. Please join tens of thousands of activists from across the globe to remind him we support that vision too — before it’s too late.

To President Biden:

Guantanamo Bay Detention Center shouldn’t be used to process Haitian migrants — or anyone. It’s time to close the detention center once and for all.

I urge you to make good on this key campaign promise before the end of 2024.
