The last thing they need is more taxpayer dollars to fuel their violence. But that’s exactly what Republican leadership in Congress would give ICE and CBP — unless a majority of lawmakers continues to defend their communities by voting NO.
Funneling billions more to ICE and CBP while they terrorize our communities, tear-gas schools, and kill innocent people is simply bad policy. As popularity for Trump’s deportation force sinks and outrage over its lawless violence in Minneapolis and beyond grows, it’s also become bad politics. That means we’ve got crucial momentum to make a positive impact, and we intend to use every ounce of it.
The closer we get to the final vote, the more pressure lawmakers will feel to cut a deal, including one that all but ensures people remain at risk. We need to make sure members of Congress don’t sell out the people they represent in these final moments, and the best way we do that is by speaking out together with one voice:
