Win Without War

The ceasefire is crucial — and fragile. Congress must act now to END this war.

A ceasefire will save lives, it’s as simple as that. News that the U.S., Israeli, and Iranian governments have approved a two-week ceasefire is a bright spot after weeks of war.

But make no mistake, the potential for the violence to resume is terrifyingly high: Mere moments after the ceasefire was announced, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu made it clear that he would continue his relentless strikes on Lebanon. This morning, the IDF carried out a devastating wave of airstrikes across the country that quickly overwhelmed hospitals. Hundreds of people are reportedly under the rubble of collapsed buildings across Beirut.

Here at home, hawks like Senator Lindsey Graham are already pouring cold water on the ceasefire agreement and calling for a congressional review process that could pave the way for the resumption of U.S. strikes.

Trump’s illegal war, the global economic crisis it incited, and the thousands killed since February 28 aren’t ‘yesterday’s’ problems. They’re ‘right now’ problems.

What happens next will be crucial. We can’t risk the chance that violence resumes, particularly given the horrific, genocidal threats Trump’s already made. It’s time for Congress to step in and end this war.

To members of the 119th Congress:

News that the U.S., Israeli, and Iranian governments have approved a two-week ceasefire is heartening but the chance that violence resumes is horribly high.

Congress must pass a war powers resolution to ensure hostilities end.
