More than six months ago, we awoke to horrifying news of a new war as Trump joined Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu in striking targets across Iran.

A U.S. Tomahawk missile had already hit Shajareh Tayyebeh Elementary School in Minab, which killed more than 150 people, some as young as six. Thousands more have died since the bombs began to fall — including attendees at a wedding in southern Iran in early September.

What was true on February 28 remains true today: Trump began this war with no clear objective, no congressional authorization, and no end in sight.

As lawmakers return to Washington, they’ll face a stack of votes that can turn the tide: the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), appropriations bills, supplemental requests, reconciliation vehicles. They each amount to one crucial choice: fund Trump and Hegseth's violence, or end the war.

Six months of suffering and another horrific civilian casualty event must be more than another grim data point. It has to be the moment Congress renews the debate and takes the votes that can end Trump’s illegal war for good. Let’s remind them who they work for.
