The House Must Pass a War Powers Resolution to Stop War on Iran

Spats of violence in the Strait of Hormuz, threats from Trump, and a deepening global economic crisis continue to define the pause in the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran. The chance for deeper violence and unnecessary suffering remains terrifyingly high.

Congress’ failure to rein Trump in has only emboldened him to expand and extend this disastrous, illegal, and historically unpopular war. But as the political consequences for supporting war on Iran mount, the House is about to face another crucial opportunity to pass a game-changing war powers resolution (WPR).

A vote on Rep. Gregory Meeks’ WPR is expected soon. The last House WPR fell short with a TIED vote. Now, with a high potential for violence to resume if the choice is left up to Trump, we must go all out to flip the ONE vote we need to end this war.
