Win Without War

Act Now to Break Trump's Mass Deportation Machine

Troubling reports from CNN confirm a dangerous new part of the horrible deportation machine Trump is building: the Alien Enemies Act (AEA).

In essence, the AEA — the last of the widely decried Alien and Sedition Acts still on the books — allows for state-sanctioned terror and discrimination against immigrants.

It’s an outdated and xenophobic war authority that Trump would use in peacetime to detain and deport people without regard for human rights or basic due process. We know because it’s this same law used to put Japanese, German, and Italian residents in the U.S. into detention camps during World War I and II.

With senior administration officials discussing their next steps now, THIS is the moment to draw a line in the sand and remind Democrats and Republicans that throwing out constitutionally protected rights doesn’t make ANY of us safer.

Now and always, our job is to defend communities facing violence and injustice. One crucial way to do that today is by building support to repeal the AEA once and for all — and create a huge obstacle for Trump's plans.

The clock is ticking, so please speak out today. Urge your members of Congress to do all they can to defend human rights and protect our communities by supporting Sen. Mazie Hirono and Rep. Ilhan Omar’s Neighbors Not Enemies Act!

To members of the 119th Congress:

Revoking due process rights and deporting millions of our family, friends, and neighbors will not make our communities safe or help people thrive. Please cosponsor and pass the Neighbors Not Enemies Act (H.R.630; S.193) to repeal the Alien Enemies Act, protect immigrant communities from arbitrary detention and deportation, and affirm U.S. values of justice and humanity.

If you’re already a cosponsor we thank you, and encourage you to do all you can to pass this crucial resolution.
