Win Without War

No Military Action in Latin America

Troubling New York Times reports indicate that the Trump administration is secretly — and likely unlawfully — planning to use military force in Mexico and elsewhere in Latin America. It’s part of a continued misguided effort to “defeat” drug trafficking and address the fentanyl crisis, real problems with no military solution.

Expanding the failed “war on drugs” with reckless, unlawful military action won’t stop the flow of fentanyl. What will Trump’s dangerous idea do? Trigger economic crises, erode civil liberties, and escalate violence on both sides of the border.

The best time to stop a war is before it starts. That’s why we, along with everyone from experts at conservative think tanks to progressive union leaders, have been sounding the alarm and preparing for a scenario like this for months.

We can’t do it alone. Pushing Trump off his path toward military action requires forceful, clear-headed leadership from our elected officials — and your voice today can help push them to speak out.
