The 2001 Authorization for the Use of Military Force has been used to justify at least 37 military actions in 14 countries. No president - especially one as reckless as Donald Trump - should have a blank check to wage endless war. Granting unchecked powers to the president and abandoning a public debate and vote on war is a direct attack on our democracy.

It is Congress' duty to authorize the use of military force. Since 2001, the same authorization of the use of force has been used in multiple conflicts around the world. It's time to end this blanket authorization and restore public debate and the rule of law to the use of American military power.
