The House January 6 Select Committee unanimously voted to prosecute Donald Trump for his efforts to overturn the 2020 election.
In an unprecedented, bipartisan vote, key members of Congress referred Trump to the Department of Justice for a laundry list of crimes including charges of obstruction of an official proceeding, conspiracy to defraud the United States, and insurrection.
Ultimately, Attorney General Merrick Garland and the DOJ hold the power to formally indict, prosecute, and hold those who broke the law to account, and that’s where you come in. These referrals are non-binding and could be largely symbolic, UNLESS activists like us create the public pressure necessary to ensure the DOJ has to respond.
