Win Without War

The House Must Stop Trump’s March Toward War with Venezuela

We’re in an all-out race to pull Trump off the path to war:

In the latest act of aggression, the U.S. military seized an oil tanker off the coast of Venezuela, and the White House said it’s preparing to seize more,. This comes amidst an illegal bombing campaign that has already killed 87 people over the course of 22 strikes across the Caribbean and Pacific — the grisly details of which reveal gross human rights violations, including extrajudicial killings.

What happens next will be crucial.

The thing is, Congress, NOT the president, gets to decide when the U.S. goes to war. Congress has the power to rein in a runaway president by passing a War Powers Resolution (WPR) — and, soon, your representative will have an opportunity to do just that.

Rep. Jim McGovern (D-MA) will make a push in the House to secure an urgently needed vote on his bipartisan WPR, and you can help. Before Congress breaks for the holidays, we’ll flood every office on Capitol Hill with messages reminding lawmakers that no one wants another war.

To members of the 119th House of Representatives:

Continued lethal strikes in the waters of Latin America amount to extrajudicial killings, according to disturbing reports. Without congressional authorization, these strikes also amount to an alarming executive overreach that puts millions of people in unnecessary danger.

The House must reassert its constitutional war powers and keep us from entering another endless war. I urge you to pass H.Con.Res.64, a War Powers Resolution to prevent war with Venezuela.
