On a clear, cloudless morning, 77 years ago — death fell from the sky.
In an instant, the flash and fire pierced through the morning sun onto the city streets, and the world for the first time witnessed the power of the atomic bomb. It is hard to conceive, even to this day, the utter destruction that weapon inflicted.
Today, we remember and honor the hundreds of thousands of lives lost in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Their legacy lives on in our righteous struggle to rid the world of the means to destroy each other completely and to never unleash that terrible violence on one another again.
