Tell our leaders: We want a nuclear free world!

On a clear, cloudless morning, 77 years ago — death fell from the sky. 

In an instant, the flash and fire pierced through the morning sun onto the city streets, and the world for the first time witnessed the power of the atomic bomb. It is hard to conceive, even to this day, the utter destruction that weapon inflicted. 

Today, we remember and honor the hundreds of thousands of lives lost in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Their legacy lives on in our righteous struggle to rid the world of the means to destroy each other completely and to never unleash that terrible violence on one another again.

On this 77th anniversary of the nuclear bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, I want to take a moment to remember and honor the lives lost. I reaffirm that I want to live in a world without a nuclear arms race, free from the threat of nuclear annihilation. And I ask for your commitment to work towards achieving that outcome.
